Soap Box Derby
Soap Box Derby racing is a pilot program spearheaded by Officer Wes Froneberger in conjunction with the Huntersville Soap Box Derby Association. This program is designed to give boys and girls in the Police Activities League an experience to the excitement of soap box racing.
The program is designed to be an enjoyable learning experience for both the adult and the child. The program provides an opportunity to develop mutual respect and trust while demonstrating the importance of individual pride and sportsmanship.
Soap Box Derby racing is seasonal: Sign up for the next session is March 2010.
The racing season can last throughout the summer; however it doesn't interfere with your child participating in other activities.
The written rules, plans and regulations are designed for the participant to construct their own car from a Super Stock Car Kit.
Volunteers will be on hand to assist your child in the building of his or her car. This is quiet an experience for the beginners.
